I saw that; pretty disingenuous:

But back then, who knows what was in stuff? The FDA wasn't regulating stuff, not unless it was killing people or people were dying from it."

We've gone from "I've never failed a drug test" to "I didn't know what I was taking" to (after getting caught) "I did it that one time and am now paying the price". All hogwash. The irony is that Jose Canseco has been telling the truth about steroids all along. Go figure.
