it really is a dilemma....we have a terrible problem with excessive phone usage already(personal use, text messages etc) the phones i want require a data package (i want the data package for the GPS tracking feature which is a HUGE productivity enhancement) but otoh, the last thing i want is to layer on yet another level of corporate liability because i've 'armed' drivers with blackberries<g>

when i brought the liability issue up to the cell phone company the guy just looked at me, said, 'wow, never thought of that!'

indeed. really, you don't say.

if laws are going to passed against texting (and i agree with these laws, i see them as akin to open alcohol container laws) and if the technology is there to disable the text function while moving, then what's the problem?

oh i know...texting fees are volumetric <g>
