1997 VW Jettas are also? accepted under this program.... don't they get over 18 MPG? So why are they accepted.
If you have a nearly new 2004 Mazda RX8, you can get a whopping $4500 too.

I'm surprised the tranny lasted through that procedure.
Doesn't surprise me that it's there, because these Volvos with the T6 motor had a craptacular transmission sourced from GM due to packaging needs. These cars by now are on the second tranny at least, if not third.
I THINK this is a T6 not a 2.9 or a 2.5T, if it's the 2.9 or? 2.5T, then yes, a waste. Otherwise I don't blame the owner for taking advantage of the program.

I love how the idiot shot a fire extinguisher on a REVVING CAR ENGINE. They acted so surprised when the oil shot out after that cold shock they caused.
Of course shit lit on fire, it was revving at the redline, which is generally 7-8 thousand RPMs. The engine's going to be furiously hot, and spraying a cold extinguisher onto it isn't going? to do any favors.

That is stupid, and nothing more. I thought the name of the program was "Cash for *Clunkers*? Then why the hell are these guys destroying perfectly? good cars? Why not just give them a cleaning and sell them for a couple of thousand $'s, and leave the destroying for the REAL clunkers?

Why not just sell the vehicles in good working order, or that can be in? good working order with a few cheap repairs, to people with low incomes?

Ok, so I say if it starts up ok and runs fine, why destroy it? I have an '85 Cherokee that runs great STILL with over 300,000 miles on it, and never have had any engine problems. Plus it gets better gas mileage than some of the NEW jeeps! With a manual drive train, I've managed to get up to 27mpg! It's all about the driver in most cases. "Clunkers" is just offensive, especially in this? case.

Cash for Clunkers is a piece of crap. I can't believe that they destroyed a perfectly good S80 T6. That should have been shipped off to another country where it would have gotten a *real* clunker off the road, instead of destroying a perfectly good engine that? actually has very low emissions (compared to what people in poorer countries drive).
I'm glad that this program got cancelled. It's painful to see such a nice Volvo get that kind of slow and painful death for absolutely no reason.
