You are correct but I know of people who bought their home, made a down payment, committed to a mortgage they could actually repay and are now under water on their home.

In my mind they are the agreived in this mess. Their government screwed them and the banks screwed them. I hope everyone of them walks away from their mortgage.

A guy that owns a car wash (and has an Obama sticker on his car) "bought" a home on a land contract 6 months ago. He only put $14,000 down and walked away from it and was telling another customer that the owner was being a b_tch about it and would not release his car in storage until he cleared some $1000 for something. He saw. Nothing wrong with it.
