You'd just be in jail. And I like to think I don't know the full situation... but a mother not taking her children with her even if she needs to leave the man? it can be difficult. I've never been in that situation.

I worked at a doughnut shop in high school, but just late hours. when I was 19, I did the 'real' thing. I fried them in those deep vats of oil, and iced them, and sprinkled them. and ate them fresh from the frier. that is mighty fine eating. I did the night shift, getting them out for the morning crowd. I worked with two bakers. one was a very large older guy... the other was a late teen guy.. this was the late 70's, who was all into the 50's... he'd walk in and put the radio on the 50's channel, and he had a duck-tail hairdo, and a chainlink steering wheel in his 50's car, and his gf wore a poodle skirt. seriously. it was quite... interesting. and his dream was to own a pool hall one day. he had a two-piece pool cue in a case. it was almost too cute. I was only 19 but I felt quite old next to them. and now and then I think of him and hope he got his pool hall. and I miss those doughnuts right out of the fryer and icin' that melted in my mouth.
