After getting my blood draw, my doc's assistant made a call to me and said the doc was very concerned about my D levels. I haven't ever heard of someone getting sick from too much D, but did find this:

You're unlikely to get too much vitamin D from the food you eat, and prolonged sun exposure doesn't seem to cause vitamin D toxicity. Over time, however, megadoses of vitamin D supplements can cause nausea, vomiting, poor appetite, constipation, weakness and weight loss. More seriously, excessive doses of vitamin D can raise the level of calcium in your blood — which can cause confusion and changes in heart rhythm. Generally, the upper limit for vitamin D is 2,000 IU a day.

I was not experiencing any of those symptoms, and I never did speak directly with the doc, but I was advised to go off for the summer and resume in Nov with 2000 iu a day.

When was the last time you had your levels checked?

i take 8000 iu daily.my blood work for vit d, 25-hydr came back a few weeks ago at 58. doctor was impressed.
