I don't know this John Crudele or read the sensational NY Post but his musings about Fed intervention yesterday are idle speculation. He gives no supporting data so why even think about it? Just another flunkey looking to concoct a story out of thin air.

The dangers BB were probably referring to were trade protectionist measures. No rational person believes the Fed bought stock index futures yesterday. They have no such authority (express or implied).

FWIW, Jim Cramer was in the middle of the melee, and saw no manipulation. This is contrary to 1987, when he did see manipulation.
