Are you talking about rolling out an covered call using a single "diagonal spread" order? I do it all the time in my & my family's Fidelity IRAs. Maybe I haven't been so close to having 0 cash that the buy back of the short call would momentarily consume all my cash, but I'll check carefully, because I know I'm often very close to 0, and can't remember ever having an order rejected, even for deep ITM calls. I was under the impression that the spread executes as a single order, with net credit/debit as specified in the order.
