ElM, we [BP Oil] did a lot of work on "Orimulsion" which is an emulsion of Venezuelan heavy gunk which is in super vast quantities such as 400 years of supply. At the right price and with the right politics, it can be sold in vast amounts. A friend spent a career digging oil, mostly around Taranaki. The lastest field, Pohokura, involved an on-shore drilling site with horizontal holes out into the sea.
