I just met with our insurance carrier. Our health care plan is available to all our employees naturally, as well as to dependents and spouses. Because we pay a high percentage of the total costs, we have spouses migrating to our plan and with the children, those non-employees covered equal 250% more than our workforce. I do not know what your circumstances are, but because of this additional coverage outside of our workforce and their claim experience, we are being quoted a 50% increase in premium. It did not matter when insurance was cheap, but today, the increases are far greater than we are able to pass along. I was advised that some companies are dropping insurance coverage and simply giving the employees raises and telling them that the company no longer offers health plans. The tax benefit is lost.

Little Joe... I DON'T think we should be paying for the medical expenses of ANY illegal alien. I also don't think we should be paying for the education of the children of illegal aliens. I think we should change the law that makes anybody BORN in this country a citizen of this country. If you're in this country and have a kid with somebody else that isn't a legal citizen of this country then you shouldn't get ANY benefits from this country and you and your kids should be deported. As far as paying for morons having morons I'm not so sure. I don't know what the best route would be in that case. Well....I'm a smoker and I seem to be PAYING for EVERYONE but I don't get ANY help for my addiction from ANYBODY so the overweight folks are on their own.....
