>> In other words, a lot of problems with the Canadian system are hidden by American health care.

People forget that way more than half the new drugs, tests, imaging, and other life-saving features of health care come from the United States -- funded by that 16% of GDP. When you cut the 16% to, say, 12%, you also cut out the motivation to fund these R&D activities.

The first CAT scanner was conceived in the late 60s and built in the early 70s in UK, by EMI. The concept absolutely would have DIED then and there had it not been for the US interests who licensed the technique and made it profitable.

There are smart people all over the world. But the US has special attributes that make it more capable of exploiting good ideas than any other place in the world.

I've got a Canadian health care story for you. I worked for a Canadian guy that was a muscle car collector, and worked down here, because of the high taxes in Canada.

He had a serious wreck and had no insurance. He had himself transported back to Canada, where they kept him hospitalized for nearly a year. The Canadians even PAID TO TRANSPORT HIM out of barbaric America. His bill? ZERO.

Before and after that, when he needed anything expensive done health-care-wise, it was back to Canada!

Excuse me, have you been to Canada? Canadians have a lot to be proud of.......not just health care.
