Obama is so narcissistic that I wonder if that has occurred to him?

It can't occur to him, his political thinking is too shallow. If he were really a clever demagogue just riding left-wing ideology to success he might turn on a dime like you suggest; but I am convinced that he is a genuine left-wing ideologue. This is his Achilles heel as it cramps his style for reversing course while claiming consistency. Not that he won't do it when he has to, he just can't do it cleverly.

As the hope'n'change fairydust wears off, the country will become able to see Obama's rather obvious limitations.

His shallowness is what makes many people think he is some kind of a Manchurian candidate. I think left-wingers like Valeri Jarrett and George Soros just saw him as their one best hope. I bet they too will be disappointed as Obama's cluelessness and incompetence becomes obvious.
