You math conceptualization is off slightly. Big Pharma firms have earned a disproportionate return on capital, paid larger salaries and more salaries, and paid larger dividends than they could have otherwise done. As a result, their stocks have traditionally sold at a price which is triple what they might have otherwise.

In recent years these stocks have sold off as smart investors have realized the U.S. economy can no longer afford to lavish special favors on this government protected fiefdom.

It's inevitable that the gravy train large pharma firms have created through political influence returns to the discipline of the free market.
