than you. I call it the concept. Where one does something useful for another that needs that useful thing or service.

People can name it capitalism but you know I don't believe in ideologies.

Gib, that's the key feature of socialism. <the key feature of capitalism is getting other people to work to make money for you. I don't think capitalism is going to wither away, rather, a different group of people will be getting rich from the work of others. >

Capitalism is the accumulation of capital which is invested in things which return profits. That capital is privately owned.

A capitalist tends to have fewer workers than non-capitalists. Somebody might hire 100 people to work for them, but not be a capitalist. All they need is the workers to generate more revenue than they cost in pay and hey presto profits, but no capital invested.

On the other hand, I can buy a refinery, power station, runway, ship or something with just a few people to run it, or even none, and get a lot of money and profits. Those few people could be paid a LOT of money. That's capitalism.

Socialism is bludging off the work of others. Capitalism is use of capital to get more money [or capital]. Capitalism creates wealth, socialism destroys it.

Brazil's Belo Monte dam: a history of celebrity opposition

The construction of the Belo Monte dam in Brazil may finally be about to begin but celebrity opponents as well as legal challenges have helped prevent the bulldozers and workmen moving in before now.
