Most of the people –younger than we- thought that by ‘piloting’ a PC would be called a ‘knowledge’ worker. Well, it did not turn that way. They became brainless as they predecessor bureaucrats in a paper and pencil office of the past. I usually get people asking me if I know about some job possibility and exchange information on our network. This is an Ericsson Iran who lost her job with Ericsson Iran (from her CV). Highlights: - Working as CFR (Contract Fulfillment Responsible) on System Integration Opportunities, this is to support commercial team on pre-sales activities to close the deals. - Working as CPM (Customer Project Manager) in SI and NDI delivery projects such as N&TC, MSC, HLR, BSC, OSS, VPN etc. - Working as Process Controller to assure PROPS-C adherence in the project management deliverables among SI project managers (PROPS-C is the Ericsson Project Management Model) With these credentials the ONLY possibility is for her to get a job with Ericsson once again. That because Ericsson train and specialize people on a narrow range of subject and implement tools (the PROPS-C thing) to make them produce with little thinking or judgement. They are subject to an electronic bureaucracy. It is the old bureaucracy but cheap to run since it use a screen of a PC rather than a piece of paper. The only real job she tried (from her CV: Responsible for the acquisition portion of MTN-Irancell project in South of Iran) She failed miserably and I asked my counterpart to remove her removed. The only thing that saves her is that she is good looking and a nice girl.
