There at least was some speculation that we spent at least part of our early evolution along a seashore. That could account for the reduced body hair, subcutaneous fat, the fact that what body hair we do have is aligned in a pattern that promotes smooth water flow, etc. Given that an oyster can be defeated with a relatively small rock, we could have been eating them for a very long time...
