I have heard arguments that most government sponsered research is a wast of money. That grants are provided to people to research what we already know and not to those who advance knowledge.

Can you shed any light on this area.

since 1983 or so , it has been promised to find a cure for aids, and every year up to the present they have failed to deliver. what has been accomplished however, is a very successful and lucrative industry of billions of dollar dedicated to hiv/aids research. it has grown so large that it has become too big to fail, and so the research continues.

this has been one of the biggest research scams of the century and has set back the integrity of medical research
