Clueless - WASHINGTON, Aug 6 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama still believes that the U.S. unemployment rate will eventually top 10 percent, the White House said on Thursday.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told repoters, however, he did not know whether the jobless rate would surpass the 10 percent mark in figures the government is due to release on Friday, though he said it was expected to show an increase.

I wonder if there is a place that we can track food stamp use? To me it seems like it is a better indicator of pain in the USA than how many are collecting unemployment.

Edit: This goes through April 2009 (for California only, but includes both the state and federal programs):

cdss.ca.gov

And more (Fed program only, but nationwide):

cdss.ca.gov

So the Fed Gov spent about 4.6 billon in May to feed people and that number is growing every month (probably parabolic).
