I also saw Mr. Murphy on CNBC recommend LSI. All this does is again for me is confirm that LSI is on the right track. At the level we're trading at now, only another market shock will bring the share price down further. I liked the stock in the 30's and I, along with others starting to line up, love it in the 20's.

DavidG - not to throw water on the fire but Micheal Murphy liking LSI may be the kiss of death! This guy has been burned so badly recently it makes Michael Metz look bullish. Still he does tend to have a long term perspective - maybe he'll be right this time.

For LSI, the long term should get better shouldn't it? As far as I see what other bad news can there be that has not been priced into LSI-

Sony pulls a fast one and yanks the PlayStation contract
PCs get cheap and powerful that PC games make the PlayStation obsolete
SUN's workstations go the way of the DODO once Intel's Merced ramps
SGI goes out of business for the same reason
DVD proves to be "D V Disaster"
Hyundai moves into ASICs
JNJ moves into ASICs
Home Depot develops Home-Ware
Cabletron ???? - no one really knows about them so take this one back

and... any more that I've missed

On the good news front what has not been priced into the stock. Let's see:

Fiber channel's a winner
Gigabit Ethernet's a winner
The embedded DRAM deal's a big winner
GSM wins big
The new design kit actually does work and LSI's utilization rate zooms
Tons of networking business inspite or maybe because of CS and others
LSI gets smart and becomes a foundry for other big boys who finally figure out ways to use leading-edge capacity
Not content with cable tv and the set-box thing from that end, Bill Gates decides he wants to own the chips that go into set-top boxes and donates a billion bucks to LSI.
Bill Gates decides he wants to sit on LSI's board and the stock price takes off.
Corrigan misses his 2 million dollar bonus this year (but ah what the heck reprice all those options again. no one really knows how much these cost anyway.)
Because of El Nino's side effects, the big quake finally hits California and LSI's fab is the only one still intact - the others become fish hatcheries.

So all is not lost. Far from it. Jim Jublak, one of those hot-line guys (Dessaur?), Lynch, Duane Olson and now Murphy. Some day people will start to believe these guys I'm just not sure when :-( Anyway the prudent thing might be to nibble every now and then since things can't get much worse can they? We shall see. (how about Market Crash Part II, tax selling, capital gains 18 month limit up soon, SEA proves to be the tip of the iceberg...)
