Yes, just told we are getting upgraded to Office '97 and some new mail program over the weekend. "save all your old messages and addresses we can't port them." Cool, huh?!!

I wish we could save all the old programs on one of our PC's,
but nooo ....

I got work due Mon. I already know what's going to happen!

In '91 I was working with Word and Excel for the MAC. I haven't seen any real improvement in these programs from those versions -- just more contortions to get done what I want to do.

Here's hoping Bill's new techno-palace is run by his own friggin' software.

Unbelievable but Smart Money site had this as the reason for GTW's rise...in the high-tech sector, NYSE-listed computer direct marketer Gateway 2000 jumped 3 7/16, or 13%, amid a positive mention in HomePC magazine. But Compaq lost 1 1/4 atop the NYSE actives, Dell Computer slid 7 1/2 on the Nasdaq, networker 3Com eased 1 11/16, and Microsoft dipped 2 1/4.

What the heck is "HomePC" magazine and why whould a mention there give a 13 percent rise to GTW???

MB,

HK seeming to stabilize a bit. Only down 3.75% today. Hang Seng briefly saw a '97 PE around 8 in Monday's panic. Do you think it has put in a bottom or will punk '98 EPS cause '97 PE to be almost meaningless?

MB,

I'm no expert but I think that expecting Chile to escape Latin American turmoil may be like expecting HK to escape Asian mess, although as a paired trade you might do ok if long Chile and short Mex, Brazil.

How closely do the webs track the underlying indices and is there an easy way to adjust out the changes in exchange rates over time?

What I'm wondering is this: How far has the Malaysian stock market actually fallen in terms of it's own currency? Over time there are two ways to make money (with foreign webs). As confidence strengthens in their currency (some time in the future) the assets look more valuable in terms of dollars and the market itself also may strengthen, right?

Would you mind giving your opinion on this guy's approach. It sounds good given you have a stock that steadily rises over time and has fat premiums.Am I missing something?
