Gotta like this: "We have high revenue goals [for
BorderManager] and we are exceeding that,"
Schmidt said.

Hi Don - I like this statement from CEO Schmidt..."We have high revenue goals [for BorderManager] and we are exceeding that," Schmidt said. I wish he would quantify them with a range or something. What the investor has to figure out is if these "revenue goals" from BorderManager will replace the revenue loss from NetWare. I really do not think it will happen but perhaps it will slow the continued fall.

Don, these forget it type of comments are just what has put Novell where it is. Stubborn egos of the past, publically admitting that they they're keeping the power, period. For the sake of yourself and some others, I hope they have the first earnings surprise in years this next quarter.

On a separate note, have you seen any Novell advertising lately? Just curious. I haven't, but might have missed it.

Well ... he seems to have the right goals in mind. I hope that Novell the company has the right people and culture to actually meet these goals.

from the story (followed URL in your post):

Schmidt expects Novell's fortunes to improve.
"My primary focus is on strategy and marketing, getting the next generation of our products out. That will make our shareholders very happy," Schmidt said in reply to a question about the company's performance in the current quarter that he declined to comment on.
Schmidt said Novell's two most exciting products are BorderManager, which replaced some telecommunications products, and NDS for NT.
"We have high revenue goals [for BorderManager] and we are exceeding that," Schmidt said.
