Dave is a self-employed leech on our broken medical system. He's terrified that universal health care will end his business. He's one reason for the exploding costs.

So, when he makes ridiculous, moronic arguments that sound like HE's Big Health Insurance, know exactly where he's coming from.

Has any conservative made any serious proposals for reform? Or do you think the current system is just wonderful??

They got cut out of the entire planning process and yes I think my company provided insurance is pretty darn good - except for the high cost. Actually a good 70-80% of the insured believe their plans are pretty good.

You don't hear any D's discuss the fact most folks are pretty happy except for cost and little discussion related to cost cutting - like tort reform etc.

Heck you don't even hear D's discuss the 40, now recently 50 million (claimed) uninsured and the fact a large part are by choice and a lot are illegals - it's a dishonest number to start - hard to have a serious debate from that position.

I'd prefer both sides get together and start making small changes that could potentially save the insured folks money before we start being generous and cover those that aren't interested in paying for their own insurance and to hell with the illegals.

Then of course those D's that think reading the bill(s) is too hard is simply silly - that's what they got elected to do for us in the first place.

Like one protestor said - Obama took six months picking a dog why only three weeks for the largest program in USA history.

I'll make a few proposals:

Cap punitive damages from lawsuits so as to lower the temptation to bring lawsuits to win a big payday, to lower malpractice insurance costs, to lower the incentive for wasteful defensive medicine.

Build more medical schools to train more doctors.

Automatically enroll everyone qualified for medicaid reducing the ranks of the uninsured by 14 million.

Ditch the laws in some states which don't allow high deductible catastrophic policies ideal for young people who are a big portion of the uninsured because they don't want to buy expensive policies they don't need.

Change the tax laws to make it easier to allow deductions of all health care expenses including insurance premiums and contributions to health savings accounts.
