I can well imagine your daughter is proud of finding a piece of American history! The more she knows about this country, and the history of this country, the more she will love it.

Years ago, I read that the National Archives had in their Military and Military Pension files from the American Revolution forward pieces of family information or even pieces of real property that once belonged to that family. They had no copy machines then. Things included in the Soldier's file could be things like original marriage licenses, or baby booties knit with the date of birth on them, or actual quilts with names and dates sewn on them, so as to prove the wife was actually married to the Soldier and could qualify for the small pension he would have earned.

You said something one time that struck me...This country only continues one generation at a time. That is so true. I've believed if we don't know where we came from, how can we know where we're going?

Hopefully your daughter will continue her interest in various pieces of American history...She will always treasure that knowledge and be glad she did!
