Actually Elmat it's all about what pathogens your immune system has been exposed to. You develop a relatively bigger population of lymphocytes (B and T cells) specific for, i.e. capable of recognizing and combatting, those pathogens to which you have been exposed. This expansion of cognate cells, called memory cells, is the basis of innoculation. In different regions people are routinely exposed to different sets of pathogens as they grow up, and therefore have a different repertoires of resistance. So you are partly correct, but when your dirty Latino meets a bug significantly different from those he's been exposed to, he's just as vulnerable as anyone else. This is why the indigenes of the Americas and of the Pacific were devastated by bugs that were not very dangerous to the Europeans who brought them.

Malaria, river disease blindness, hemorrhagic fevers, Ebola, tse tse fly, Dengue fever, Chagas fever, yellow fever, elephantiasis, snail fever, etc., etc., are all tropical diseases unknown in cooler climates.

And don't tell me AIDS began in Stockholm. Or that millions upon millions of HIV+ sufferers live in Scotland.

Many tropical diseases are caused by unsanitary conditions, unclean water and, most important, failure to adopt basic Anglo-Scottish-American discovered hygiene practices. Do you have any idea what Walter Reed did for the brown and black man?

Elmat has the flu!

Now we know why you make so many comments which are so utterly and completely unfounded in fact.

You need to read up on the theory of climactic determinism. Ask yourself why is it that most advances in the human condition occur away from the Equator, and why the most backward conditions occur near the Equator. Also read Guns, Germs and Steel.

"The Anglo if drink a glass of tap water ends up in the hospital"

I was was in Zacatecas last month and we had nothing better to do on the weekend than visit a ranch. We got there in the morning just when the charros started milking cows and Juan Jorge suggested we have a charro breakfast which consists of some sugar, tequila and fresh cow milk. This was all being done for my benefit and it backfired on them like it usually does.

Raised on a farm I love the taste of fresh milk and had three glasses with tequila. I then drove the guys to town to vote after which they got very nauseated with accompanying diarrhea. I spent the rest of that enjoyable afternoon teaching Juan's two lovely daughters how to drive a stick shift.
