Nope, you got it bassackwards. If the AMA has a lock on the number of doctors that are allowed to practice in this country, the weak sister insurance cos. can't negotiate that, and everyone pays higher prices. If health care cos. choose not to accept an insurance cos. fees, they can remain "out of system," and everyone pays higher prices than that. No single insurance cos. can stand up to the AMA and the health care providers. They will pay whatever the providers say is fair and charge the corporations more for their covereage. On the other hand, the AMA cannot stand up to the guv. And the health care cos. cannot afford to get on the guv's bad side. IF the guv has them by the short and curlies. Which they do in other countries with better and more affordable systems.
