<<care to postulate as to the meaning of AG statement that Monday's market could at some future date be looked upon as a 'salutory' event?>>

Alan's long been accused of speaking some variant of the English language, but "salutory" is in the dictionary. I looked it up! I was afraid it meant omen of bad things to come, but it really has a positive meaning. "favorable to or promoting health" and "promoting or conducive to some beneficial purpose"

BP:

------> anyone reading this care to postulate as to the meaning of AG statement that Monday's market could at some future date be looked upon as a 'salutory' event?

Some of my friends have already had a salutory event concerning Monday.

Monday evening, I attended a small gathering and nearly all present were "doing shots" of a beverage which to my untrained eye was very similar to water---it was clear in color and appeared to slake thirst for at least a short period of time, all the while vocalizing comments which sounded like "Thank God this day is over----SALUD" or as the evening wore on more like "SAALLLuuddd".

When I inquired Tuesday morning as to what this strange ritual signified from several of the particpants I was informed that this had been a salutory event.

Tuesday eveing, a goodly number of the same folks were partaking of this beverage again. Being of inquisitive nature, I examinied closely the bottle this "water" came from. The label identifed it as ABSOLUT. Now , without question, I would never partake of such because my ol dad taught me -----It they can't spell it right, leave it alone. ----and I was getting the water I consumed directly from the faucet. But once again, the folks were exclaiming remarks similar to the evening before, but with much more gusto.

Again this morning I was informed that it had been a salutory event.

Wonder what they'll be doing this evening ? ? -----ggggggg
I might force myself to try some of that misspelled water concoction and report to you tomorrow.......
