Based on study of history IMO that is one thing that ancient religions got right. (Not making commentary on anything else regarding religion.) Usury is the source of the problem. Banks create debt from nothing and the interest cannot be paid unless there is more debt created (which creates the money needed to pay the interest on earlier debt.) Inflation must result and, as you said, the innocent are destroyed financially to keep the lenders afloat. The system is purposely flawed in favor of the banksters monopoly to create money from nothing.
