No sugar, yes! And no flour. It's a good dish for people avoiding either flour or sugar.

I can spend hours at allrecipes.com amusing myself. I was surprised when I took a notion to look up cornbread recipes that I only found one sans flour and sugar. And there were many reviews mentioning 'sweet southern' cornbread. I know Cracker Barrel makes very sweet cornbread (then top it with honey/butter), but I know the unsweet, also.
