I decided to ignore the musty smell of the paper and read the page-----

Ramanoff's final statement as heard only by Father John---

"I am fearful of the war after the war," he murmurred. "A terrible calamity threatens the world. The struggle of the animal man against the ideal man. Only religion can save humanity from destruction. Russia is a great volcano. I see--flames of destruction and agony, but also the dawn of a new civilization."

Romanoff told of all of the obstacles which prevented him doing any great good for his subjects. He expressed a belief that Russia would never be happy under a democratic, least of all under a socialist flag. Only a free, intelligent Monarchy would suit Russia. He furthermore stated that he never meant any harm to his country, but harm might have been done through the clique which surrounded him. "

"Rasputin's death was a great blow to me,---his simple peasnt nature was a relief to me in the false,,, hypocritical atmosphere of the court. He was a good, simple man, who understood 'the soul' of Russia." Romanoff said.

He was led away and shot by twenty Red Gaurds "---

To put these final moments in perspective one needs to understand the history of Russia which I make no pretense to understand.

The article does give a description of the trial by the Bolsheviki tribunal. Fascinating----can't reproduce it here.
Would take hours to retype.

This was certainly a digression--------from why Obama uses the term Czar.

As you noted-------Biden used it and Times mag used it in the 1970's.
