48% of those with mortgages, will owe more on the loan than the house is worth by the first quarter of 2011, according to an analysis by Deutsche Bank released this week.

We were hit hard in the low end properties in CA for obvious reasons.... Today's SJ Mercury has a big story of those low price homes getting as many as 40 offers from people with cash who want them now for investments.

My best friend and his wife are thinking of moving back to the Bay Area. They found an amazing 2500 sq ft house on 0.5 acre with a pool in San Jose for under $600K.... Same house in top areas would be $2M to $3M. The left the Bay Area about 10 yrs ago when they kept losing $700K bids on homes that were much smaller with far less land. 40% off brings buyers.

There are prices today in California people can afford to pay. How anyone can say where housing will be in 2 years.... after ECRI already called a bottom... not credible.
