Cary, what is your take on PRIA?? It seems that FAB automation is going to be even more important as FABs get bigger and more complex.

Cary: NVLS at 27!!!

In your note to Robert you say:

' Second, buy at prices that provide downside protection against bad news and expect to average down. Some of these prices: AMAT 25, EGLS 16, KLAC 35, LRCX 32, NVLS 27, SVGI 20, UTEK 20. After the AMAT conference call, it may be prudent to enter a higher prices.'

I agree with you, we have to be patient, but to get our hands on NVLS at 27 is very unlikely....

IMHO:

A good entry point for these stocks is 15 times 1998 earnings (not
much risk and lots of potential for long term):

This means:

AMAT: 31
NVLS : 43
EGLS: 22
INTC: 70
SFAM: 33
UTEK: 22
LRCX: 30 *
KLAC: 45
* I ajusted the earning for fiscal 1998.

For a real bargain (or second entry point ) lets reduce price by 15%:

AMAT: 26
NVLS :37
EGLS: 18
INTC: 60
SFAM: 28
UTEK: 19
LRCX: 26 * I ajusted the earning here for fiscal 1998.
KLAC: 38

my bargain price is relatively close to your numbers:
mine yours
AMAT: 26 25
NVLS : 37 27
EGLS: 18 16
INTC: 60 ?
SFAM: 28 ?
UTEK: 19 20
LRCX: 26 30
KLAC: 38 36

except for NVLS (yours too low) and LRCX (yours too high)

What do you think....

Jean-Louis

Cary, at yesterday's price of $42, NVLS is trading at a PSR of 1.6, which is well below AMAT (at 3.3) and others. Why would you expect it to get to a PSR of 1.0 (at $27)? Is the PSR data on the SI Profiles wrong? I just bought another 1000 shares because I thought it was a better bargain than AMAT. OOPS! It looks like SI halved the number of shares outstanding when it split rather than doubling. This made the market cap half of what it should have been. Therefore their PSR is about 3.2 which is inline with the others.
