Re the pipeline to Kitimat, IMO LNG would face less opposition than oil. The way I understand it, unlike with oil where the major problems is spillage into the ocean, the major concern with LNG is catastrophic explosions, which could be dealt with by locating the port and pipeline away from settled areas.

That is not to say there wouldn't still be considerable opposition, but IMO you would have a much better chance of getting permitted for LNG than for oil tankers.
