Unfortunately, the amateur firemen who the mob voted in are using gasoline to cool the flames. $1 trillion sprayed here, $1 trillion poured there, that should fix the profligacy of wastrel spending according to the firemen.

Spending $billions to destroy functioning vehicles is simply absurd. Using money to buy things which actually do something useful and provide a return on investment would be a better idea. But the people with money already plan to spend it in ways that they think will return them profits or enhance their lives. Diluting their money, throwing it away on stupid ideas, then introducing vastly expensive cap and trade CO2 restrictions, alternative fuel foolishness and other "I'm a Big Shot in government with loads of OPM" ideas will make things worse and fairly quickly.
