I was listening to some of the town hall meetings tonite and I find it remarkable how uninformed Americans are. I don't know whether its typical of any country's citizens, or its due to the American educational system or the propaganda put out by American gov't over the years but its appalling. In one of the town halls, a woman became hysterical.......she's absolutely convinced that if we have health care reform it will be the first step towards socialism and that will allow the gov't to eventually become totalitarian. There is little understanding of health care reform.....what it will mean for the country....its positives and negatives. There is little understanding of socialism. And most importantly, there is little understanding of the American democracy. And the older they were, the more out of it they were. Europeans watching this fiasco are perplexed by the American reaction. We appear to be small children in their eyes. Its going to be a long, grueling process.
