You could have gone back to Jeffersons and Jacksons days. The south had been Democratic from the start. It wasn't just southerners who started shifting to the GOP in recent decades, it was northern "ethnics" too. I think the George McGovern campaign did the most to push conservative Dems out of the party and over to the GOP. Remember Nixon's rout of McGovern? I do. And Nixon was not a charismatic popular guy. I remember being on construction sites and hearing people, like my Dad, who'd always voted Democratic all their lives talk about either crossing over or staying home - as my Dad did. ------------ Most blacks favor school choice and vouchers. The only funds diverted from public schools would be those associated with kids who would no longer go to public schools. If parents use vouchers to send their kids elsewhere, the public schools should need less. Most blacks want the illegal immigration laws enforced. Letting massive numbers of third world workers come in takes jobs away from poor people of all races and drives down wages. Its a shame most blacks support a party that doesn't have their interests at heart. The Democratic party "speaks to" ... it spreads lies to get them to vote against their own people's interests. The bogey of racism - those evil white Republicans will get ya, if you don't vote Democrat. We're protecting you. What bullshit. Democrats killing voucher programs, banning Walmarts from poor neighborhoods, making life easy for illegals ..... hey, but they're FOR the poor. For keeping them poor that is.
