I don't disagree there are problems, but hasn't this argument been debated since the 70's? Seems there are countless bears that have labeled this a problem for many decades now. What is so different now?

The U.S. economy merely needs a lot of bankruptcy filings and foreclosures, as occurred during the 1930s.

U.S. government debt is quite low. The problem is privately incurred debt.

The U.S. has absolutely no choice but to deflate their way out of their debt crisis. It will just take additional time.

The inflation scare is imaginary. It was an artifact of the debt bubble.
