He deliberately came up with what he did because he KNEW he could find clowns who'd believe it anyway. It's really no more ludicrous than Christianity - you've been raised with that, so it seems more reasonable.

But, really? A guy that was born in a virgin birth, could walk on water, magically reproduce loaves and fishes, raise the dead, turn water into wine, heal the sick, make trees instantly die and was resurrected after his own death! Among many other magical things..
