absolutely.

the problem faced by americans is excess inflammation.

this is why the diet is called the "zone" diet. you keep your hormonal responses (including pro and anti-inflammatory responses) in a therapeutic "zone," not too high, not too low.

the problem americans face is that our inflammation levels are through the roof (10x the healthiest japanese). the logical response is to eliminate the excess inflammation and bring our diets back in balance. in a "zone" if you will.

the recommendation for someone on an eskimo diet (AA/EPA very, very low) would be quite different.
