Perhaps that's why you shouldn't just rely upon ONE pollster!

Especially when that pollster is all off alone in a corner by himself. <GGG>

(Rassmussen is the ONLY national poll that shows anything of that sort. All the others show strong net positive approvals, not negative numbers):

President Obama Job Approval

Poll Date Approve/Disapprove Spread

Ipsos/McClatchy 07/30 - 08/03 +21

Marist 08/03 - 08/06 +20

CNN/Opinion Research* 07/31 - 08/03 +16

Zogby 07/31 - 08/04 +15

Gallup 08/09 - 08/11 +13

Quinnipiac 07/27 - 08/03 +8

Rasmussen Reports 08/10 - 08/12 -5

RCP Average 7/27 - 8/12 -- 53.1 40.6 +12.5

Rasmussen, (the ONLY poll out of seven showing anything like negative approval numbers), seems clearly to be a bit of an outlier. If we take it's extreme results out Presidential approval is at plus 15.5%.

(Or --- to be fair --- if we take the most extreme outliers from each end of the scale out, Rasmussen *and* Ipsos... we get an average approval number sitting at + 14.4%)

And heading lower...

The bad news for Obama is that he never had most Republicans...you have 1/3 of the country as Dems, 1/3 as Repubs and 1/3 in the middle....if he is dropping below 50% that means he's losing those in the middle....
