I haven't read the bill, and if I did I wouldn't be able to understand it. Nonetheless I support the bill and those ignorant people who oppose it are misinformed.

This needs to be worked in there:

"What bill? Why would you read a bill when 4 different committees are still working?"

Its a quote:
Message 25858363

It means - you can't oppose the bill cause its not complete yet. Course when it is completed, it'll be 4PM on a Friday with the vote immediately after.

He closed by saying "You don't know what you oppose." Which if it were true would mean he doesn't know what he's for either.

I have been thinking for a while on how to characterize the dem position on health care. Here it is.

I haven't read the bill, and if I did I wouldn't be able to understand it. Nonetheless I support the bill and those ignorant people who oppose it are misinformed.

Revise that to read:

"I haven't read the bill, and if I did I wouldn't be able to understand it. Nonetheless I support the bill and those ignorant people who have read the bill and do understand it but oppose it are misinformed.

Politics is about politics, and that's what the health bill is mostly about. Details really do not matter in the big picture; I can see that.

The day we will have socialized medicine of some sort is the day when millions of people will come to depend on it - some, for medical insurance, others - for their paychecks. Even those who oppose it today will be FOR preserving it.

Scaring people that Republicans will take away Social Security and Medicare worked marvelously over the years, to the tone of many, many millions of votes. Just imagine being able to tell voters that electing Republicans may threaten their insurance and their paychecks.

As for details - screw details. There is plenty of tzars and apparatchiks and other smart people who will be able to smooth out the details.... when time comes.
