i suspect any sneering that "may" be going on, has nothing to do with his stock picks. <g>

Well, if gold only does a fraction of what true believing goldbugs hope for, New Gold (NGD) could triple from where it is.

I got into a huge position of NGD late last year (following Seymour Schulich and others) at an average price of 91 cents a share ($USD); right this minute it is worth $3.22. It's increased so much already that it is equal to about 15% of my investable assets; that's a huge percentage for a single mid-sized gold producer. I keep checking to try to make sure that it's as good as I think it is.

Yes, anyone who sneers at Canadian Oil Sands Trust is an ignorant jerk.

Hi Malcolm,

I just checked and find that our family assets are up 65% from a year ago, mainly because of gold stocks (NGD especially) but also from the recovery of COS.UN plus some other things.

One persisting major disappointment for me is that Brompton trust AOG.UN. I really thought I was being cautious and prudent when I put a lot of money into into a few years ago, and while the payouts are steady, it's down nearly 65% from what I paid for it. First there was the Harper slapdown of the trusts and then all this natural gas was discovered in the United States. I wish I had put that money into COS.UN. Funny how being cautious can prove to be a bad decision. But I will just continue holding what I have and taking the tax-free return of capital distributions.
