That's a very good question. One has to assume that the Palins traveled by private/charter jet. What difference would it make if there were kids on the same plane? So the same question could be asked about Michelle and the kids. Since he's already going to Montana, what difference would it make if he goes to Yellowstone with the kids? But the question is - would they be going to Bozeman if not for Yellowstone? Didn't Bess Truman have to pay for her ONE secretary out of her own pocket? Didn't Jackie Kennedy have to return the dresses she wore? Didn't Nancy Reagan have to find private funds for the new White House china? Same thing with Jackie redecorating - it came from private funds and furniture from the Smithsonian.
