The record for US manufacturing output was reached in 2007. Also the US manufactures more value than any other country in the world.

Its simply not true that we don't manufacture anything any more. What is true is that we don't employ nearly as many people in manufacturing, but that's a very different thing. The change is similar (although not as extreme) to what happened in farming (where farmers went from a strong majority of the population to a low single digit percentage, while output increased).

and we have a trade deficit to prove it.

That's more related to consumption that lack of production. If (pulling figures out of thin air that aren't accurate but are broadly representative), we increased output by 3% a year, but increased consumption by 3.2%, then deficits would keep growing even as we produce more than ever.
