This is a better URL. Provides Intel's viewpoint. Also mentions that Clinton will likely veto the bill.

Now the point is will AMD be aware, after all their K6+ chips are supposed to outperform even Suns high end workstations.

Good news on Intel Price Cuts. Further down in the URL that had the
Deshutes "export problem" news is a more complete table on the Intel
price cuts, which I quote: AMD, assuming
Part Was Is 25% discount

Pentium II 300MHz $851 $738
Pentium II 266MHz $669 $530
Pentium II 233MHz $530 $401
Pentium Pro 200MHz (1MB cache) $2675 no change
Pentium Pro 200MHz (512K cache) $1035 no change
Pentium Pro 166MHz (512K cache) $412 no change
Pentium Pro 200MHz (256K cache) $487 no change
Pentium Pro 180MHz (256K cache) $407 no change
Pentium 266MHz MMX (K6) $300
Pentium 233MHz MMX $386 $300 $225
Pentium 200MHz MMX $252 $213 $160
Pentium 166MHz MMX $145 $112 $84
Mobile Pentium 266MHz MMX (K6) $605
Mobile Pentium 233MHz MMX $691 $605 $454
Mobile Pentium 200MHz MMX $530 $423 $317
Mobile Pentium 166MHz MMX $348 $273 $205
Mobile Pentium 150MHz MMX $241 $160
Mobile Pentium 133MHz MMX $177 $106
bold prices are new AMD products announced but not yet released

First, the original price cut on the 200MHz MMX was going to be from
$252 to $199, now its a little higher-priced at $213. AMD can maintain
a 25% discount with a selling price of $160, rather than
$149. (BTW, thechipmerchant's price is already $168, while Intel's MMX200 is $230.)

It is still true that with these prices AMD can maintain an ASP of
$150 by simply selling more 233's than 166's during the second half
of the quarter and by selling a few mobile Pentiums to pay for
Tier 1 discounts.
