Sure the U.S. is slow to react because of entrenched interests. But we will frame a comprehensive energy plan long before gasoline creeps up to $20 a gallon. $4 a gallon got serious talk started regarding alternative energy. If gasoline starts selling in the $5 to $10/gallon range, both public and private research into energy solutions will kick into high gear. We just had GM announce the 200+ MPG Volt this week. There will be more of those types of projects and announcements, and the public will be willing to buy the new products because they will be cost effective to use.
