Idiot. If you participate with Medicare you can't bill the patient more than 20% of the allowable for the surgery and the global follow up, meaning the surgeon gets AT MOST $740 + 20% maximum for the procedure and all follow up care.

It's not what Medicare paid them, it's what they billed the patient......look around their are a lot of em.....it's not unusual to be billed 11-12K for a 3 day stay in the hospital....

You don't understand. Wingers don't stay in hospitals for an amputation. In fact, its an in-office procedure......the doc [sometimes he's a vet doc] cuts the leg off in his office, sews it up and has you out of there in an hour tops. He gives you extra gauze in case there is seepage. So its not unusual for a leg amputation to cost $700-1500.

They also have a special that's half the price. They call in the local butcher. He gives you a bottle of moonshine to numb the pain and then throws in a few pork chops as a bennie at the end of the amputation. By that time, you're in no pain and pork chops for dinner sounds like a good idea.

That's why a winger rag like the National Review thinks Obama made a mistake........from their experience, the price he quoted was way out of line. Obama's from Illinois......what does he know about winger ways of doing things. ;-)
