Microsoft deserves this slap zdnet.com

Microsoft's argument that Internet Explorer is just another feature in Windows is ludicrous. It's big (40MB to 70MB) and different enough to be like a word processor or spreadsheet. It's not Scandisk or the "My Computer" icon in Windows. On one hand, I don't want the government to decide what is a feature and what is a product. But I know IE4 is NOT a feature.

Then a Microsoft lawyer says the government doesn't understand "the way software is developed and designed."

What crap.
[ Well, I wouldn't use that word.]

That's the type of arrogance that engenders so much animosity toward Microsoft. The government is holding Microsoft in contempt. Well, Microsoft holds just about everyone in contempt.

But, to criticize Microsoft is to be branded a religious zealot, or worse. Looks like John Dodge isn't expecting to be invited to Bill's digs anytime soon. Me neither, needless to say. Hearts and minds wise, Microsoft may not be quite as invincible as people think.

Cheers, Dan.
