By taping the envelope and also making it so thick, they can't run it through their automatic letter openers - they have to open it by hand.

We used to have some bricks leftover from an old grill we tore down in our backyard but my wife nagged me into getting rid of them, so now I can't tape the return envelopes to them and send them back anymore. Dang, we are kinda curmudgeonly huh?

That's a hoot! I had a colleague who boxed up some rocks and attached the return envelop to it and mailed it.
