Obama has repeatedly said rationing is necessary to control costs.

He said it to the NYT in April and back in the campaign as well. He keeps telling people in townhalls old folks would be better taking a pain pilll and dying rather than waste our resources.

He told the NYT he wants an "independent group" outside or "normal political channels". That last part is important because rationing is going to be very unpopular and he doesn't want Democrats blamed for it.

Z, > There will be less rationing going on if there's no profit motive for doing so.

Without said "profit motive," the supply of health care will decrease. By making everyone have health insurance, the demand for health care will increase.

Basic imbalance of supply and demand. Of course we have rationing now, but wait until we get onto the path toward single payer.
