Yes, but it is simple to answer. Let's say our society decides to run health care and pay docs salaries. So what pay would it require for kids to go to college and earn a medical degree in sufficient numbers to server our sopciety?

So we mix the law of supply and demand with the needs of a welfare state. We do not need to be that extreme, but it shows the logic.

It is well known in economics that capitalism must set price. I do agree with Austrian economics on that.
